Don't Blink

Funny, I remember my parents telling me once you have kids how much faster time goes by. I was never one to listen to my parents anyway, so I always thought why start now. Looking back, I could have and should have took the time to listen and learn from their experiences. But no, I thought I knew it all.

I remember my dad telling me I grew up in a blink of an eye. He said don't blink or the same thing will happen to you. Well today, I blinked. I didn't even mean to and look what I happened. My little girl, not so little anymore.

Today we went dress shopping for Winter Ball and found the perfect dress as Lizzie G. and Me. I wanted to post a picture of the dress but her boyfriend hasn't seen it yet so I have to keep it hush hush until the dance.

I was just standing there in the store watching her try on dresses and in my head everything went quite. All I could see is this little girl (about 5) trying on dresses and heels from my closet, dancing around the living room with her daddy. It seemed like only yesterday. Where did the time go? If your a parent (or know you will be someday), listen to this song. This was my today.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't blink. Capture every second of everyday. I'm so proud of who my daughter has become, but there are moments, like today, I want my little baby back.

I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.
3 John 1:4

I may have more wrinkles and laugh lines, but I wouldn't trade them for the world. Every crease and stretch mark holds a dear memory.

This photo I took today reminded me that she's watching me. Observing my every move. She's going to mold her life as a mother after me. That's kind of scary, but very true. I pray everyday God give the strength and knowledge to be a better mother.

Here are a few things that will always remind me of my Rachel.

I found this and found it to be so true.

Hope this inspires you to be the best mommy you can be, because in a blink, they'll be all grown up.

Blessings,
Laura
